Physicàl Therapy is a health care profession with an emphasis on the use of physical approaches for the promotion ofhealth and the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management of disease, movement dysfunction,; pain, trauma/injury and disability. These can arise from musculoskeletal,! neurological, Cardio- respiratory, and chronic disability conditions, or from mental illness and intellectual impairment.

Goals are achieved through comprehensive assessment with individualized treatment combining education, continuous support, home exercise programs and advice, using knowledge from our extensive scientific, I background ofhum•an anatomy, physiology including exercise physiology, pathology, biomechanics ofhuman motion etc.

About Us
The department is staffed by qualified physiotherapy specialists, general physiotherapists, and PG students under the supervision ofa full time experienced physiotherapist employed by the DHLI.

The approach is always research based and we are committed to providing you high’quality assessment and treatments.

Physiotherapists strive to improve an individual’s total quality of life by physical means. A combination ofeducation, manipulative therapy, 0 splinting, movement trainmg, exercise, respiratory techniques and other physical and electrotherapeutic agents are used to achieve this.

When to consult Physiotherapist— Best results are obtained if a person is seen as soon as possible after an injury or the onset of a disease process to minimize any disabling effects and to expedite quicker recovery. In the case of chroni.c or progressive illnesses, the aim is to maximize physical function and improve quality of life.

Physiotherapists provide assessment and treatment in a range of situations and conditions including but not limited to musculoskeletal dysfunction such as fractures, soft tissue injuries, back or neck pain, , inflammatory disorders, etc; acute and chronic pain, stress incontinence, neurological disorders, respiratory disorders, post heart attack for exercise and education, and immobility due to ageing or disease.

The doctors of Physiotherapy make the consultation and the diagnosis for the patient and prescribe physiotherapeutic treatment.

Services We Offer
Inpatients
General Service hours are from 9:00 am till 5pm Monday to Saturday

Services are provided to all inpatientareas with a number receiving 7 days per week, although evenings and weekends are on a limited basis. Weekend service is limited to acute care patients who comply with our selection criteria. In addition to covering the general ward areas, special areas of mention include:

  • Cardio-Respiratory
  • High Dependency Unit
  • Cardiothoracic & Pulmonary Intensive Care Unit
  • Coronary Care Unit
  • Emergency Department (limited)
  • Orthopedics & Neurology

Outpatients
9:00am — 5pm; Monday to Saturday only.

The Physical Therapy Department is operating basement . The clinic accepts referrals, direct consultation
